Criteria
The term psychedelic was coined in 1956 by
psychiatrist Humphry
Osmond who, in correspondence with Aldous Huxley regarding
the need for a word to describe the experience imparted by entheogenic
substances, stated:
To fathom Hell or soar angelic,
Just take a pinch of psychedelic.
The origins of the word are from the Greek,
essentially meaning soul-manifesting, spirit-manifesting, or mind-manifesting.
The ranked songs were selected based on their ability
to promote spiritual enlightenment or profound self-awareness a Psychedelic
Experience.
